It’s hot out there, and with that in mind, it’s so important to keep hydrated. While I previously posted about how to add more water to your day for better hydration, let’s face it, plain water can get a little boring. The good news is that there are other ways to keep hydrated. For example, by eating water-rich foods.
*Fun Fact: Did you know you can get about 20% of your water intake from the foods you eat?*
The human body is comprised of about 50-70% water, with men at an average of 60-65% and women at around 55%. Hydration is key to keeping the body healthy as dehydration adversely affects health with fatigue, muscle cramps, headaches, and more. Here are some of my favourite healthy*, water-rich foods to quench your thirst this summer:
- Watermelon (92% water)
- Strawberries (91% water)
- Cantaloupe (90%)
- Peaches (89% water)
- Oranges (88% water)
- Skim Milk (91% water)
- Cucumber (95% water)
- Lettuce (96% water)

Watermelon happens to be one of my favourite summer foods, and not just because it’s water-rich. It happens to go really well in salads like this!
